Love Your Library!

Love Your Library!

February 1, 2023

February is Library Lover’s Month, so let me show you all the ways the Library shares its love with the community.

L is for Love Literature!

Check out NoveList Plus or NoveList K-8 Plus (for kids) to search for your next read!

Do you want to connect with others? From in-person book groups for kids, teens, and adults, to virtual chats, book groups abound at the Library. You can also start your own. Find out more information about Community Book Groups here.

O is for Online Reading!

Libby, by OverDrive is your one-stop shop for Library eBooks and eAudiobooks. Download the app and get instant access to thousands of books and audiobooks from the Library. Don’t forget to check out Teen Book Cloud (with books that you can read right then, without worrying about due dates) for young adults or BookFlix for little and beginner readers.

V is for Vast Array of Services!

From family history research resources like Ancestry Library Edition or a visit to the Midwest Genealogy Center, to the Storytelling Certification program and Espresso Book Machine at The Story Center, to Square One Small Business Services, which can help with career and entrepreneurship goals, MCPL has a large set of services that will assist you in meeting your goals.

Additionally, there is the Reading Rocket, which takes Library services into the community; Excel Adult High School, offering participants a chance to earn an accredited high school diploma; and Library-By-Mail, which brings Library materials directly to customers who can’t make it into a branch (reaching further into our community to show them our love!).

Are you looking for some simple daily things to help you accomplish tasks? Download the Mobile Device Printer app to your phone and send items you need printed to your local branch for pick-up. Check out all of the other unique Library services here that may help you meet your needs.

E is for Exciting Engagement and Events!

MCPL offers many ways to attend exciting events, including business classes from Square One, storytimes, technology workshops, ESL classes, genealogy programs, storytelling courses, and more! Library programs can be attended in person or virtually through the MCPL360 page on Facebook and MCPL YouTube channel. Zoom is also used for interactive programs. Visit the Library’s Events webpage for details about all upcoming programs.

You can also contact your local branch for information about events and to RSVP. From science to yoga, knitting to history, creative writing to gaming—MCPL has so many programs planned for you! We can’t wait to see you all at them. Pick up a Program Guide at your branch for all of the upcoming event details.

And finally, do you want to show the Library how much you love them? Drop us a compliment or ask us questions here. Finally, consider becoming an MCPL Library Lover to receive awesome perks for showing the Library your love!
