Friday, July 12, 9:00 a.m.
The public is invited to join branch staff, MCPL leadership, and local officials to “turn the page” in a special rededication ceremony on Friday, July 12, at 9:00 a.m., starting a new chapter in the history of the Claycomo Branch. A brief ceremony will be followed by light refreshments. Everyone in attendance will receive a fine forgiveness token worth up to $10 off fines and select fees.
Welcome Back Open House
Saturday, July 13, 10:00 a.m.–1:00 p.m.
Customers are also invited to attend a Welcome Back open house on Saturday, July 13 from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., which will include entertainment at 10:30 a.m. by Mad Science, refreshments, an "I Love My Library" selfie station, and an appearance by the Library’s mascot, Marty the Martian. A fine forgiveness token will be distributed during branch hours on July 13. Registration is not required for the Welcome Back Open House, but to attend the Mad Science program, please register today.
Mobile Scavenger Hunt
July 12 – 19
Adults and kids will have fun participating in the Claycomo Branch Scavenger Hunt using the free GooseChase app beginning at 9:00 a.m. during the rededication event on Friday, July 12, through Friday, July 19. Participants can qualify for a $50 gift certificate from El Sombrero Mexican Restaurant.
Holds and Returns
- If you received a notification that items you placed on hold were available for pickup at the Antioch Branch, those holds were transferred to the Claycomo Branch and are available for pick-up.
- If you would like your holds assigned to a different branch during this renovation, please call or visit any MCPL branch and ask a staff member for assistance in redirecting your holds to your desired location.
- The branch book drop is available for returns as of Monday, May 13.
Storytimes and Book Groups
Storytime for Families will resume on Wednesday, June 5 at 10:00 a.m. followed by Play and Learn at 11:00 a.m.
Book Group will meet on Wednesdays 1:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m.

Your New Library Experience is Here!
The renovation of this branch is part of the second phase by Mid-Continent Public Library. This project is part of Library’s capital project made possible by funds from Proposition L. The architects are SAPP Design (Springfield, MO) and Helix Architecture and Design, Inc. (Kansas City, MO), and the construction firm for all projects is JE Dunn.
The Claycomo Branch will undergo changes during the renovation, including the following:
- New community room
- New windows and lighting
- Enhanced entry with automatic entrance doors
- Outdoor seating area
- New paint
- New updated public computers
- Improved Wi-Fi coverage and access
- Landscape enhancements
