The Claycomo Branch will be closed for renovations beginning on Monday, December 10.

Holds and Returns


Before December 10, Claycomo Branch customers were asked to check out any items they had been notified are available at the Claycomo Branch for pickup. Any holds not picked up before close of business the day prior to the closing date were transferred to:

Antioch Branch

After the closing date, Library materials that become available and were scheduled to be picked up at the Claycomo Branch will be transferred to and available at the Antioch Branch. If you would like your holds assigned to different branch during this renovation, please call or visit any MCPL branch and ask a staff member for assistance in redirecting your holds to your desired location. 


The branch book drop will not be available for use while the branch is closed. Materials can be returned to any MCPL location not closed for construction.

Storytimes and Book Groups

During the branch's closure, Family Storytimes will be held at the Claycomo Community Center on Wednesdays at 10:00 a.m.

Claycomo's book group will meet at the Claycomo Community Center on the second Wednesday of the month at 1:00 p.m. beginning on December 12. Other dates will include January 9, February 13, March 13, and April 10.

As an MCPL customer, you are invited to attend programs (including storytimes), browse the collection, use public computers, access free Wi-Fi, and use other Library services at any branch location including the Antioch Branch, the Woodneath Library Center, and the Liberty Branch

Your New Library Experience is Coming!

The renovation of this branch is part of the second phase by Mid-Continent Public Library. This project is part of Library’s capital project made possible by funds from Proposition L. The architects are SAPP Design (Springfield, MO) and Helix Architecture and Design, Inc. (Kansas City, MO), and the construction firm for all projects is JE Dunn.

Renovation Enhancements:

The Claycomo Branch will undergo changes during the renovation, including the following:

  • New community room
  • New windows and lighting
  • Enhanced entry with automatic entrance doors
  • Outdoor seating area
  • New paint 
  • New updated public computers 
  • Improved Wi-Fi coverage and access
  • Landscape enhancements
