A new East Independence Branch is coming soon! The new 12,500 sq. ft. facility will be built on a 5.5-acre property off Little Blue Pkwy in Independence, just south of I-70. The East Independence Branch will include a community room, meeting rooms, a children's area, and outdoor space.

East Independence Branch Groundbreaking Ceremony

Join MCPL and local officials for the East Independence Branch groundbreaking ceremony on Friday, March 31, at 9:00 a.m. The event will be held at the corner of Little Blue Parkway and S. Heartland Dr., just south of I-70, in Independence.

Parking will be available at the Independence Christian Center (20201 NW Valley View Rd, Blue Springs, MO 64015). Comfortable footwear is suggested.

Your New Library Experience Is Coming!

The East Independence Branch will be a new 12,500-square-foot facility that will include:

  • A community room
  • Meeting rooms
  • A children's area
  • Outdoor space

The construction of this new branch building is part of the Library’s Capital Improvement Plan, which is made possible by funds from Proposition L. The architects are SAPP Design (Springfield, MO) and Helix Architecture and Design, Inc. (Kansas City, MO), and the construction firm for all projects is JE Dunn.
