Formed in 1968, Mid-Continent Public Library allows three county library districts to combine resources for the best possible customer service. MCPL now serves a diverse population across urban, suburban, and rural locations.

Following overwhelming public support and the passage of Proposition L in 2016, the Library launched its Capital Plan to renovate or replace all Library facilities, including two new service locations.

With awards from organizations such as the Institute of Museum and Library Service, Missouri Library Association, and Federation of Genealogical Societies, MCPL has earned recognition on a national level.
