Make Music for World Music Day

Make Music for World Music Day

June 21, 2023

On June 21, World Music Day is celebrated in over 80 cities in the U.S., and more than 700 cities worldwide. Also known as Make Music Day or Fete de Musique, this holiday began in France by providing a free public venue so musicians could express themselves and share their talents.

The Library can help you celebrate! We provide access to music in a variety of forms – you can listen to streaming music, watch a performance, craft a custom playlist, and so much more!

We have many databases that allow cardholders to listen to thousands of songs and albums for free. From jazz to the latest pop titles, soundtracks to musicals, and R&B to opera, there is something here for everyone:

If you would rather watch some great musical performances, check out Medici.tv or Classical Performance in Video.

Interested in playing some tunes yourself on your own instrument? Check out the Classical Scores Library, which provides access to 20,000 scores, librettos, and sheet music! You’ll be playing every day until next June. In addition, the Library offers access to sheet music in its collection.

Can’t play an instrument, but still want to discover something new? We have over 20,000 audio CD’s ranging from gospel to country and everything in between. Find your favorite artists and blast their music. We even have karaoke tracks for singers!

Do you want to create your own playlist online? Choose from over 30,000 albums and songs that you can stream from almost any device.

You can even come to the Library for music events all summer long! Check out the events page, RSVP and join us for a wonderful immersive entertaining musical program.

How will you celebrate the symphonic sounds of World Music Day?
