When looking for ways to enhance your child’s learning experience, you might regard a resource containing videos with some suspicion. After all, some video opportunities for kids have more of an emphasis on fun and entertainment than any stated educational value. Other streaming video choices may say “for kids” but are not as age appropriate as you would like.
With Just for Kids Access Video, you can relax. Videos for preschool through fifth graders are screened for age-appropriate material that is both fun and educational. Enjoy everything from classic Sesame Street, Reading Rainbow, and other PBS videos to Highlights for Children to BBC Worldwide Learning.
To find Just for Kids Access Video, click Research & Learning on the main menu of the Library’s website, and then select Homework Help for Kids. Scroll down to click on Just for Kids Access Video. When you first open Just for Kids Access Video, you’ll notice that it has close to 9,000 titles—and that list of titles is growing all the time!
There are many ways to find the videos you want. One way is to select a Subject icon just below the banner at the top. Each of the subjects is then subdivided for easily finding possible topics that will entice you and your family to learn more.
You can also scroll down through the homepage to see a variety of suggested categories of videos.
If you click the menu button (three horizontal, stacked lines to the left of the Just for Kids logo), you’ll see links to the subjects and categories in alphabetical order. More importantly, a list of producers is provided. As you find resources your family likes, refer to the producer list to find more videos from that specific producer.
