It’s Always a Good Time to Level Up

It’s Always a Good Time to Level Up

June 2, 2021

Why wait until January 1 or self-improvement month in September to tackle your goals and resolutions? There are countless ways to grow right now, and Mid-Continent Public Library can help! The Library has several options to choose from if you’re looking to expand your horizons, including free online courses. Here are a few options:

  • Universal Class offers self-paced classes covering a variety of subjects. There are over 40 courses on personal development and more than 70 about self-help, with subjects ranging from anti-aging techniques to improving concentration.

If self-help isn’t your thing, you can use Universal Class to build a new skill. Web development, entrepreneurship, and language arts are just a few topics available. And since each course is designed to go at your own pace, they’re easy to fit into any schedule. Choose the certificate option to add to your resume, or just opt for the video-only course.

  • Gale Courses is another awesome resource offering free six-week courses you can take from the comfort of your own home. All you need is a Library card to get started. Browse the menu under the personal development section to find more classes to help kick-start your self-improvement journey.

  • For those who enjoy taking online courses and want to branch out, MOOCs (Massive Open Online Courses) are another great option. Sign up through edX or Coursera to start taking classes from top universities. Options range from taking the free audited version of a class, pursuing a certificate, or enrolling in a full degree program.

Now, if classes aren’t your cup of tea, or you would rather learn offline, then the Library has plenty of books, movies, and audio materials to get you on the right track to reach even your most ambitious goals. Just check out MCPL’s online catalog or drop by one of the branches. You can also take a look at staff-curated lists on the MCPL Readers’ Lounge group on Facebook for more suggested reads.

Regardless of what skills you want to build, or what you want to learn, there’s never been a better time to do it, and the resources mentioned above can help you get there.

Happy learning!
