Community Voices Volume V Coming June 26

June 12, 2024

The new volume of Community Voices will be published on June 26, 2024! Community Voices is a collection of writing from the written storytelling program graduates at The Story Center that Woodneath Press publishes annually. Upon graduation, students can publish their capstone project or other piece of writing in this anthology.

Volume V includes six works of fiction and two nonfiction pieces. While the genres of these stories vary greatly, many explore complex relationships on both an interpersonal and a societal level. Two of the fiction pieces are geared towards children, following a little girl trying to find her place in the world and a little girl learning to process her emotions with her mother by her side. Multiple stories follow unlikely self-journeys, including a stubborn 95-year-old woman attempting to make it to her mother’s house on her own, a 15-year-old girl and her dream of going to India, and a young woman’s unexpected day of amazing things. Another story explores a childhood sweetheart relationship amid a dystopian reality. One nonfiction piece is a historical project that explores the author’s ancestry, while the other records the author’s journey to self-discovery.
