Type-to-Text communication devices for customers with hearing and speech impairments are available upon request for public use at any of the Mid-Continent Public Library branches in the Greater Kansas City area. Made possible in part by the Institute of Museum and Library Services through a Technology Ladder Grant that was awarded by the Missouri State Library, these UbiDuo devices facilitate face-to-face communication between people who are hearing and speech impaired and people with normal hearing ability.
Using two separate laptop-like devices, customers that have communication issues in face-to-face conversations can sit down and talk to each other directly by using these instantaneous texting devices. For more information, or to check availability, call any of MCPL’s locations.
