Happy Dinovember!

Happy Dinovember!

November 18, 2022

In the beginning… in 2020… to get children interested in science, a new and exciting trend surfaced. This became “Dinovember.” Dinosaur toys would have fun at night, and then kids would find them in the morning, amidst their messes. Grown-ups may be familiar with this concept. If not, I encourage you all to explore the world of paleontology and dinosaurs, learn their names and diets, find out what caused the extinction of the dinosaurs, watch the many films and documentaries about them, and unearth some cool facts about dinosaurs.

Here are some free Library resources to get you excited about these prehistoric animals:

  • Access Video On Demand provides over 500 videos of content about dinosaurs, their relation to modern animals, answers or hypotheses to some of our curious dinosaur questions, and the amazing research being done around the world regarding dinosaurs.
  • ScienceFlix makes you think, using research from Scholastic to provide young paleontologists videos, books, and projects to inspire and give them a way to further explore. The site makes the viewer think about the what-ifs of prehistoric history and its animals. ScienceFlix is comparative to the “Who Was” biography series in its thought-provoking style.
  • Scholastic Teachables provides over 100 writing activities, cut-outs, paper games, and math and coloring sheets specifically on the topic of dinosaurs.
  • Would you like to get more engaged with the topic of dinosaurs? Check out the Library’s upcoming events for exciting programs including:

As always, be sure to check out MCPL’s catalog for over 1,500 items on the subject of dinosaurs for all ages.

Your Library card will unearth a world of discovery!
