Support Summer Reading this Library Giving Day

March 25, 2022

Daily reading over the summer has been shown to improve reading skills, increase desire to read, prevent summer learning loss, and promote school readiness. That’s why Mid-Continent Public Library has offered a Summer Library Program to keep kids reading and learning in the summer months for over 50 years. Last year alone, MCPL distributed more than 22,000 books to children who completed the program, and summer readers logged over 11.2 million minutes of reading.

In celebration of Library Giving Day on April 6, we are raising funds for the Summer Reading Endowment to ensure that every child in our community has access to reading, educational activities, and free programs every summer.

All gifts made to MCPL’s Summer Reading Program Endowment (up to $10,000) for Library Giving Day will be matched, doubling your contribution.

You can make your matched gift to support summer reading now at mymcpl.org/LibraryGivingDay.
