Gallery Wall at the Midwest Genealogy Center

The Midwest Genealogy Center offers a gallery exhibit space to showcase the stories of Kansas City and Midwest communities, past and present. The gallery wall is a 55-foot space within the Conference Center at MGC that is available for viewing any time MGC is open. The gallery wall may not be available when other non-public events are being held at the Conference Center. MGC is generally open 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., Monday through Saturday, and 1:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Sundays.

Kansas City Lights: A Night at the KC Opry features a selection of images from the MGC Archives’ Englewood Theater collection and it will run from January 5th-March 27th.

Previous Exhibit: Veterans Salute: Artful Resilience

The Midwest Genealogy Center partnered with local veteran’s organization Monkey Brain Art for the exhibit, “Artful Resilience: Unlocking Strength and Community through the Arts”. Displayed through the month of November, this exhibit featured original artworks by local veteran artists.

A Soul in Focus

A Soul in Focus: Portrait Photography Through the Years featured examples of portrait photography found in the Midwest Genealogy Center Archives. This exhibit was on display through October 17, 2025.

Snow in the Heartland

Through a curated selection of photographs and artifacts found in the MGC Archives, this exhibit captured how the city transforms when temperatures drop, from serene snow-covered parks to bustling winter activities and festive holiday lights. This exhibit was on display November 8, 2024 to January 31, 2024.
