Forever Book Fund

Forever Book Fund

Studies show that one of the biggest impacts on literacy rates is access to books in the home. Adding just one more book to a child’s home library can make a huge difference in their literacy skills and academic performance. However, thousands of children in our community may never visit a library or have books to call their own. So, Mid-Continent Public Library comes to them through visits to classrooms, daycare centers, apartment complexes, and outreach events. The Reading Rocket gives away more than 10,000 books annually to help children who face barriers to Library service. Through a donation to the Forever Book Fund, you can provide books to these children and make a lasting difference in their lives.

Access Fund

The MCPL Access Fund allows the Library to create better resources for all ages and abilities including: sign language interpreters, assistive listening devices, and audio descriptions for individuals who are hard of hearing; captioning and translation services for Library programs; sensory sensitive storytimes that are inclusive of children’s sensory processing differences; delivery of materials to customers who are homebound and cannot get to a Library branch; and transportation to Library events for schools and community groups who cannot otherwise reach their local branch. Your gift ensures that every single member of our community can benefit from the programs and services of their local Library.

Branch Storytime

Summer Reading Program Endowment

Daily reading over the summer has been shown to improve reading skills, increase desire to read, prevent summer learning loss, and promote school readiness. Mid-Continent Public Library’s Summer Library Program has kept kids reading and learning in the summer months for over 50 years. This year alone, over 19,000 readers participated in the Summer Library Program. Your donation to the Summer Reading Program Endowment provides every child in our community with access to reading, educational activities, and free programs for generations to come.
