Valentine's Day

Valentine’s Day brings back fond memories of my grade school years. Mom would buy each of us a packet of Valentine cards. I would sit and look at every card in my packet, then I would carefully choose a card for each of my classmates. The best card in the pack would always go to my best friend, Phillis. We always had to make and decorate our Valentine’s box. My classmates and I would labor over how to make our box the prettiest or the most unique. Prizes were given for each category. We would each get up and put a card in everyone’s Valentine box.

Homeschoolers @ the Library

The Lone Jack Branch has been offering programs to home-educated students for over 15 years. The program has changed its name a few times, as did this category of education. What has not changed here is the desire to make a difference in people’s lives. It seems that we would eventually exhaust the list of topics, but the world is so big, so old, and so diverse!

Wintertime Reading

Although winter is certainly not my favorite season, I look forward to it for one reason. When it is cold and snowy, I am forced to stay in and pursue my favorite pleasure of reading. Each fall I plan which book I will save to read during the winter when I have time to really sit and enjoy.

The current Lone Jack Branch opened in 1998. The library's first location was in a trailer that didn't even have a restroom.

Last year, 53,694 patrons visited the library.
