Summer Reading Program is Here Again!

Attention, kids and teens! It's time for our yearly Summer Reading Program or SRP. From May 21st through July 31st, children up through the 5th grade can participate in Dream Big...Read!, and teens grades 6 and up have their own program, Own the Night!!

You will need to register online to participate (registration does not open until the 21st), or come in to the branch after the 21st and we can help you register.

6 in 12 Is Still Going Strong!

Sure, it's already May and we're ready to start our Summer Reading Program for children and teens (check back here soon for more information!), but don't forget about our reading challenge for adults, 6 in 12. We will have drawings for several eReaders and other assorted prizes, and you have until the end of the year to participate!

Subject Search Perils

Have you ever done a subject search through our online catalog and had it give you results that were not at all what you wanted? Or, no results at all? This has happened to me as well. One of the reasons this can happen is because the word or words you use for your search may not be the same words that the Library of Congress uses as a subject term for what you are looking for.

Our Staff Suggests

The Excelsior Springs Branch

The current Excelsior Springs Branch opened in 1986. There has been a library in the town since the 1890's. For 57 years, it was a Carnegie Library on Broadway. Last year, 119,591 patrons visited this branch.

Events for Kids

There are many types of events at the library. You never know who you might meet or what you might learn! Check out the events list on this page to find a program for you.

The Excelsior Springs Branch Staff

Are you looking for an item? An answer? A suggestion? This group is here to help. If your branch staff doesn't know the answer to your question, they likely know where to help you look. All you have to do is ask.

Great Family Programs

Talented four-legged canines perform a variety of fun and remarkable tricks on the library lawn.
