Attention All Summer Readers

Keep your mind sharp and pages turning by taking part in the Mid-Continent Public Library Summer Reading Program. SRP starts May 21 and goes until July 31.

Teens can earn library bucks, which can be used for paying your fines, paying for a lost card, purchasing flash drives and ear buds, or purchasing a backpack or book. Pre-teens can earn a book for the first two lists and a choice of a yellow tote bag, a yellow rubber duck, a yo-yo, or one of many fun books for their third list.

May is "Get Caught Reading Month"

Launched in 1999, Get Caught Reading is a nationwide campaign to remind people of all ages how much fun it is to read, and how important it is for kids to read or be read to. Research indicates that early language experience actually stimulates a child's brain to grow and that reading to children gives them a huge advantage when they start school. How appropriate it is that MCPL's Summer Reading Program starts in May!

Teddy Bear Picnic and Storytime

Bring your favorite teddy bear to hear Miss Kat’s storytime on Wednesday, May 9 at 10 a.m. We will be reading teddy bear stories, playing music by Jerry Garcia, and making teddy bear crafts. After storytime, feel free to pack a picnic lunch and join your friends for fun at the playground park in Edgerton!

Here are a few of our favorite teddy bear stories:
