Summer Reading Program 2013

School’s out and books are in! Mid-Continent Public Library’s Summer Reading Program starts this week. Are you ready to read?

This summer our theme is "Dig into Reading,” and we have plenty of ways for you to get your hands dirty. Burrow into books with listeners (0-6 years old) and readers (6-11 years old) to earn incentives as you explore words and pictures buried deep within your favorite pages. Teens (11-18 years old) can also participate by tunneling their way through more advanced books and writing reviews for what they’ve read.

Come Join Us for the Colbern Road Evening Book Club!

This month the Colbern Road Evening Book Club is discussing The Chaperone by Laura Moriarty. Join us Wednesday, May 22nd at 7:00 p.m. to delve into this interesting mix of fact and fiction.

Better Than Christmas

Kids have Christmas morning. Book lovers have author signings. When I got the chance to hear one of my favorite authors speak recently, it was better than Christmas morning for me. Anne Lamott was in Kansas City at Rainy Day Books on April 4, 2013 to promote her book, Some Assembly Required: A Journal of My Son's First Son, which has just been issued in paperback.
