Would you like to learn about food garnishing and presentation? Can the way food is arranged actually affect the flavor of the food? Bill Phillips, Culinary Institute of America Chef/Instructor says, “Indeed it can.” He also emphasizes that from a psychological point of view, presentation clearly affects one’s perception of flavor. He teaches a system of guidelines called BUFF. B is for balance. U is for unity. F is for focal point. F is for flow.
Dear, sweet, intelligent, articulate, very happy, Internet savvy, English speaking, domestic Bird had fallen hopelessly in love with charming and versatile Charlie Too. Bird emailed the handsome Palm Cockatoo in New Guinea. But he could not read English.
When no reply to her email was received, Bird, rejected and despondent, no longer rejoiced in speaking her favorite English phrases such as “Hi, there”, “Bye-bye”, “Why are you doing that?”, “Oh, no”, “Don’t go there”, and “Uh-huh”.
What fun! Crafters are coming to the library! Squeaker loves people, and creative people are the best. September 8th was Buckner Branch's first Village Crafters get together. Mary Beth demonstrated making yarn out of old T-shirts. Everyone brought along the project they were working on, and there was a great show and tell, including lots of ooh-ing and ahh-ing over the beautiful things people were making. Knitting, spinning, plastic canvas, beading, and sewing were represented. We shared some great information about sources for materials and places to shop.
My name is Peyton and I've worked at the Lone Jack Branch for a little less than a year now! I've always loved reading, and have enjoyed getting to know many new books via Mid-Continent. Here are five books I love.
In July, I introduced myself to the readers of our blogs as "The slowest reader in America". I thought, maybe, I should give you an update on what I'm reading now. While, yes, technically I'm still working on the books I mentioned in my earlier post, I also have a couple more that I am excited to start reading.
