Weston Branch

Temporary closing date: July 6

Reopening date: September 20, 2018

The Weston Branch is currently temporarily closed, but will reopen to the public on Thursday, September 20. While the branch is open and fully functional as of September 20, please be advised that some final work is still being conducted inside and outside of the building due to weather delays during construction.

Holds and Returns


If you are a Weston Branch customer and received a notification that your materials were available for pickup at the Platte City Branch, please pick them up by the close of business on Wednesday, September 19. Those holds will be moved to the Weston Branch and will be available beginning Thursday, September 20.

If you are a Weston customer and requested that your home library be reassigned to another branch other than Platte City Branch during the renovation, please call or visit any MCPL branch and ask a staff member for assistance in redirecting your holds back to the Weston Branch. 


The branch book drop will be available beginning at 9:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 20. 


Storytimes at the Weston Branch will resume as previously scheduled at the branch prior to renovation.

As an MCPL customer, you are invited to attend programs, including storytimes, browse the collection, use public computers, access free Wi-Fi, and use other Library services at all branch locations, including the Platte City Branch and the Camden Point Branch.


Your New Library Experience is Coming!

The renovation of this branch is part of the first phase by Mid-Continent Public Library. This project is part of Library’s capital project made possible by funds from Proposition L. The architects are SAPP Design (Springfield, MO) and Helix Architecture and Design, Inc. (Kansas City, MO), and the construction firm for all projects is JE Dunn.

Renovation Enhancements:

The Weston Branch will receive the following enhancements during renovation:

  • Enhanced exterior entry feature
  • New vestibule and entry area
  • New reading lounge
  • Updated children's area
  • New furniture pieces
  • New and updated public computers  
  • Updated children’s computers (AWEs)  
  • New and improved Wi-Fi coverage and access  
  • Landscape enhancements
  • Automatic entrance door
