Reopening Date: September 26, 2019

The Red Bridge Branch has relocated to the new location at 453B Red Bridge Road (adjacent to the Euston Hardware Store).

Red Bridge Branch Dedication Ceremony, Presented by KC Parent

Wednesday, September 25, 4:30–6:30 p.m.

The public is invited to join branch staff, MCPL leadership, and local officials to “turn the page” in a special dedication ceremony at the new Red Bridge Branch on Wednesday, September 25, at 4:30 p.m., starting a new chapter in the history of the Red Bridge Branch. The public is invited to join Library staff at the old Red Bridge Branch (11140 Locust St.) at 4:30 p.m. to participate in a “book brigade” that will transfer the last few books from there to the new building.

Following the brigade and a ceremony with local officials at the new building, guests will enjoy a visit by MCPL mascot Marty the Martian, family activities—including a mobile scavenger hunt, an “I Love My Library” selfie station, a face painter, and balloon artist—and light refreshments. Everyone in attendance will receive a fine forgiveness token worth up to $10 off fines and select fees.

Red Bridge Branch Mobile Scavenger Hunt

September 25–October 4

Adults and kids will have fun participating in the Red Bridge Branch Scavenger Hunt using the free GooseChase app beginning at 4:30 p.m. during the dedication event on Wednesday, September 25, through Friday, October 4. Participants can qualify for a $50 gift certificate from Crow’s Coffee at the Red Bridge Shopping Center.
The branch will reopen at 9:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 26. Please visit this page for information about the reopening celebration.

Your New Library Experience Is Here!

Trustees approved the budget for the Library’s plan to renovate a building within the Red Bridge Shopping Center that will become the new home of its Red Bridge Branch. The Library had previously finalized a long-term lease with LANE4 Property Group on the property at 453B Red Bridge Road―adjacent to the Euston Hardware Store in a space previously occupied by a bowling alley.

The new facility boasts 14,352 square feet―more than 2,300 larger than MCPL’s current Red Bridge location―as well as improved visibility from Red Bridge Road.

The current plan is to sell the building the branch occupied following its move to the new space.

The renovation of this branch is part of the second phase of MCPL’s Capital Improvement Plan. This project is made possible by funds from Proposition L. The architects are SAPP Design (Springfield, MO) and Helix Architecture + Design, Inc. (Kansas City, MO), and the construction firm for all projects is JE Dunn.

Renovation Enhancements:

  • New interior
  • New community room
  • New collaboration spaces
  • Automatic entry doors
  • New furniture additions
  • New, updated public computers
  • Improved Wi-Fi coverage and access
  • Outdoor seating area
