Branch Closing Date: July 15, 2020

Reopening Date: Late Fall 2020

The Parkville Branch will close at the end of business Wednesday, July 14, for renovations. The branch will continue curbside and technology services through July 15, for renovations. The branch is scheduled to reopen late Fall of 2020. Customers will be directed to the Boardwalk Branch for service during the closure.

Holds and Returns


Before 8 p.m. July 14, Parkville Branch customers are asked to check out any items they have been notified are available for pick-up. Any holds not picked up before close of business on July 14 will be transferred to:

Boardwalk Branch
8656 N. Ambassador Drive
Kansas City, MO 64154  
Monday–Thursday: 9 a.m.–8 p.m.
Friday: 9 a.m.–5 p.m.
Saturday: 10 a.m.–5 p.m.
Sunday: 10 p.m.–4 p.m. 

If you would like your holds transferred to a different branch during this renovation, please call or visit any MCPL branch and ask a staff member for assistance in redirecting your holds to your desired location.  


Materials can be returned to any MCPL location that is not closed for construction.

In-person events at all branches have been temporarily moved to our MCPL360 Facebook page or other virtual options such as Zoom.

Your Refreshed Library Experience is Coming!

We are pleased to inform you that the Parkville Branch is slated to reopen in Late Fall 2020 and will include the following renovations:

  • Outdoor seating area
  • New windows
  • New lighting, paint, carpet, ceilings
  • Automatic entrance doors
  • Enhanced entry and native landscaping
  • New signage and display cases

This project is part of Library’s Capital Improvement Plan, which is made possible by funds from Proposition L. The architects are SAPP Design (Springfield, MO) and Helix Architecture and Design, Inc. (Kansas City, MO), and the construction firm for all projects is JE Dunn.
