Oak Grove Branch

The Oak Grove Branch will be temporarily closed for renovations beginning July 2. The branch will reopen fall of 2018 on a date to be announced. See renovation drawings

Holds and Returns


Before July 2, please plan to visit the Oak Grove Branch to check out any items you have been notified are available there for pick up. Any holds not picked up before the branch closes on Saturday, June 30 will be transferred to:

Grain Valley Branch

After July 2, library materials that become available and were scheduled to be picked up at the Oak Grove Branch will also be transferred and available at the Grain Valley Branch. If you would like your holds transferred to another branch during this renovation, please call or visit any MCPL branch and ask a staff member for assistance in redirecting your holds to your desired location.


The branch book drop will not be available for use while the branch is closed. Materials can be returned to any MCPL location not closed for construction.


Following the closure, branch storytimes for families will be taking place on Tuesdays at 10:00 a.m. In July, storytimes will be held at the Oak Grove Civic Center. August through September 11, storytimes will be taking place at Davis Memorial Center.

Summer Learning Program Prizes and Certificates

Oak Grove Branch customers are encouraged to sign up for Summer Learning Program under this branch.

After July 2, participants may pick up certificates, books that are earned, and other prizes and incentives at the Grain Valley Branch or at any of the Oak Grove Branch programs held in Oak Grove community during July.

As an MCPL customer, you are invited to attend programs, including storytimes, browse the collection, use public computers, access free Wi-Fi, and use other Library services at all branch locations, including the Grain Valley Branch, Lone Jack Branch, and the Blue Springs North Branch.


Your New Library Experience is Coming!

The renovation of this branch is part of the first phase by Mid-Continent Public Library. This project is part of Library’s capital project made possible by funds from Proposition L. The architects are SAPP Design (Springfield, MO) and Helix Architecture and Design, Inc. (Kansas City, MO), and the construction firm for all projects is JE Dunn.

Renovation Enhancements:

The Oak Grove Branch will undergo changes during renovation, including the following:

  • Refreshed entryway and signage
  • Updated community room with A/V (cap. 40)
  • Additional new furniture pieces
  • New children’s area
  • New and updated public computers  
  • New printer for public use
  • Updated children’s computers (AWEs)  
  • New and improved Wi-Fi coverage and access  
  • Landscape enhancements
