The public is invited to attend an official ribbon-cutting ceremony on Wednesday, December 5 at 9:00 a.m. that will include a brief ceremony featuring branch staff, MCPL leadership, and local officials followed by light refreshments.
Customers are also invited to attend a "Welcome Back" open house on Saturday, December 8 from 2:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. that will include entertainment by master juggler Brian Wendler at 2:00 p.m., refreshments, an appearance by Marty the Martian, the Library’s mascot, and an "I Love My Library" selfie station. A fine forgiveness token will be distributed at the ribbon-cutting ceremony and during branch hours on November 17. Customers can participate in the Excelsior Springs Branch Scavenger Hunt using the free GooseChase app beginning at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, December 8 through the end of business Friday, December 14 and qualify for a $50 gift certificate from Ventana Gourmet Grill in Excelsior Springs.

After June 11, library materials that become available and were scheduled to be picked up at the Excelsior Springs Branch will also be transferred and available at the Hall of Waters.
If you would like your holds transferred to another branch during this renovation, please call or visit any MCPL branch and ask a staff member for assistance in redirecting your holds to your desired location.
Materials can be returned to The Hall of Waters during the business hours above.
The Excelsior Springs Branch is temporarily closed for renovations. During the closing, we recommend attending storytimes at the Kearney Branch, Liberty Branch, and Woodneath Library Center.

If you have signed up for a program this summer or plan to, please note that some Library programs have been rescheduled to the following:

As an MCPL customer, you are invited during the closure to attend programs, including storytimes, browse the collection, use public computers, access free Wi-Fi, and use other Library services at all branch locations, including the Kearney Branch and the Liberty Branch.

The renovation of this branch is part of the first phase by Mid-Continent Public Library. This project is part of Library’s capital project made possible by funds from Proposition L. The architects are SAPP Design (Springfield, MO) and Helix Architecture and Design, Inc. (Kansas City, MO), and the construction firm for all projects is JE Dunn.
The Excelsior Springs Branch underwent significant changes during renovation, including the following:
- Refreshed entryway and signage
- New community room with A/V equipment (cap. 64)
- New children’s area
- New collaboration room
- Upgraded HVAC
- Updated roof
- ADA-accessible restrooms
- New furniture pieces
- New and updated public computers
- New outside seating area
- New printer for public use
- Updated children’s computers (AWEs)
- New and improved Wi-Fi coverage and access
- Landscape enhancements
