The traveling exhibit explores the many facets of World War I history through the perspectives and contributions of Missouri and Missourians. Through a series of display panels, the exhibit tells stories that pay tribute to the contributions of Missouri women and African-Americans to the war effort, the vital role Missouri horses and mules played in the war, despite the use of new motorized vehicles, and many others. The exhibit was developed with funding from the Missouri Humanities Council, Friends of Springfield-Green County Library District, and the RDW Family and Community Fund.

MCPL customers can participate in a mobile scavenger hunt during Veterans Salute through the free GooseChase app. Hunters can earn points by completing “missions” at during Veterans Salute. Once a participant has earned 1,000 points, they are qualified to win a family four-pack of tickets to the National World War I Museum and Memorial!
How does it work?
On Saturday September 22, hunters can earn points by completing missions like taking selfies a veteran and of military vehicles on display, or finding answers to questions on the Over There: Missouri and The Great War special exhibit, and other activities. A couple of missions will require you to use your MCPL Access Pass number of reach databases with the answers to those questions. If you don’t have an MCPL Access Pass, don’t worry, you’ll have plenty of other missions to do without one.
Who can participate?

What do I have to do?
- Register for a personal account with a username and password of your choice.
- Search for the 2018 Veterans Salute Scavenger Hunt game and follow the prompts.
You will not be able to see the list of missions until 9:00 a.m. on September 22, but you can sign up any time before or during the hunt which ends 3:00 p.m. at the end of Veterans Salute.
What can I win?
All winners will be chosen at random from participants who earn 1,000 points or more. The grand prize winner will receive a family four-pack of tickets to the National World War I Museum and Memorial.

Can other people see my photos and videos?

Please keep this in mind and make sure the content you post is viewable by a wide range of people. We reserve the right to remove any posts that aren't family-friendly which will delete points associated with that mission, but we know that won't need to happen!
