Writing for magazines can be a fabulous exercise in focusing your thoughts, writing on deadlines, working with different editors, and of course, getting published. In this nuts-and-bolts workshop, Tina Casagrand Foss, editor-in-chief of narrative nonfiction magazine The New Territory, will guide you through magazine editing vocabulary, how to sell a story or idea, and what to expect after an editor accepts your pitch. Through a series of short writing exercises, you will have a solid draft of a "pitch letter," which you can use to connect with editors at the magazines where you want to get published. This class is part of the Written Storytelling Certificate Programs. It counts as a Writing Elective. Program registration will close 30 minutes prior to the start of the program. Participants will be emailed a Zoom access code 30 minutes before the start of the program, so please include your email in the registration. Please note: You must sign into the room prior to the start of the program. Admittance to the classroom will close five minutes after the program's start time. Space is limited.
