Learn how to connect your writing to the earth from artist, playwright, and Woodneath Press author Olivia Hill. This workshop will focus on deepening your observation, visualization, and description skills so that you can layer a nature-focused viewpoint into your prose or poetry. Then, you will get the chance to explore how natural objects can take on meaning and shape in your writing through a discovery activity on the Woodneath property. The first half of this program will take place in the historic Woodneath house. Weather allowing, the second half will involve walking approximately a quarter mile on a gravel path and down steps to the site of the former barn and outbuildings west of the house. Please wear comfortable walking shoes and bring a water bottle. You will also need a notebook and writing utensil. You can also bring your favorite passage about nature to share. The passage needs to be no longer than one-minute long. This class is part of the Written Storytelling Certificate Program as a Writing Elective. Please note: This program will take place in person in The Story Center historic home. Please make sure to register the number of guests in your party. Space is limited.
