Virtual Event

Radio marked the first time that large-scale entertainment came to us, rather than the other way around. Radio historian Steve Darnall will explore the early years of radio humor and show how it evolved from its vaudeville roots to embrace radio as a "theater of the mind." Participants will hear sound clips from comedians who became famous on radio, including Ed Wynn, Jack Benny, Bob Hope and Edgar Bergen. Program registration will close 30 minutes prior to the start of the program. Participants will be emailed a Zoom access code 15 minutes before the start of the program. So please include your email in the registration. Please note: You must sign into the room prior to the start of the program. Admittance to the classroom will close five minutes after the program's start time. Space is limited.
