During the 19th century, more than 300 boats met their end on the Lower Missouri River. Steamboats were technological marvels superbly adapted to the river’s conditions. But these same characteristics made them susceptible to fire, ice, explosions, and snags. This is the story of the perils that steamboats, their passengers, and crews faced on every voyage. This program will be held virtually using Zoom. Registration with a valid email address is required to receive the Zoom link. All start times are Central Time.
