The US Army Reorganization Act of 1866 started what has become known as the Buffalo Soldiers. Join the Kansas City chapter of Buffalo Soldiers to hear their stories about enslavement and the Civil War, the Indian Wars, and the units that derived from the original Buffalo Soldiers. Stories will be performed by John JR Bruce, Donna Madison, and George Pettigrew, graduates of The Story Center’s Oral Storytelling Certificate Program and descendants of Buffalo Soldiers going back to 1867. The program will be hosted by certified storyteller Brenda Lowe.
