Publishing Month at The Story Center

Publishing Month at The Story Center

March 24, 2021

Every year, The Story Center hosts a week of programs dedicated to the topic of publishing. This year, we have expanded that offering to the entire month of April. The lineup includes five programs, including a new book launch event from the Woodneath Press.

As the Program Manager for The Story Center, I am particularly excited to see these programs unfold. Last year, we couldn’t offer the original lineup we had planned due to the pandemic. It was hard to let go of programs that we had spent many hours creating and scheduling. Since then, we’ve learned a lot about the virtual space, and through virtual programming, it is exciting to finally be offering these courses. We also added a brand-new program, Caveat Scriptor: Avoiding Publishing Scams, which is our kick-off event that will take place on Monday, April 12.

As an author myself, I know how vital these courses can be in shaping a writer’s career. In fact, when I first entered the publishing process, the only opportunities for programs like these were offered at coastal conferences. They were completely out of reach for me—and are still out of reach for many today. Due to my lack of access, I made a lot of mistakes that I wouldn’t have made otherwise.

Now writers have the opportunity to learn from these same experts for free as they offer their knowledge virtually through The Story Center. Knowing that our customers will get to learn the kind of information that I wish I had been able to access when I was exploring publishing brings me the sort of joy that even a writer can’t explain!

If you are a writer trying to learn how to share your work with the community through publication, join us for Publishing Month! All events require registration, and make sure to include your email when you do. Check out the entire lineup here.

I hope you find all the answers you’ve been looking for!
