Woodneath Press is excited to announce the publication of an upcoming Kansas City poetry anthology. The anthology is scheduled to be released April 2021 in conjunction with State of Stories Bicentennial programming offered in partnership with The Story Center and University of Missouri Extension. The anthology will consist of Kansas City-metro area poets from both sides of the state line in order to fully represent poetry throughout Kansas City. Submitted poems must be previously unpublished. Submissions will be open July 1, 2020 – August 31, 2020 via Submittable. The Submittable link is scheduled to go live July 1, 2020. All poets aged 14 and above at the time of submission are encouraged to submit their work regardless of past publishing experience.
In preparation for submissions, Woodneath Press has contracted with the following Kansas City-based poets to serve as managing/acquisitions co-editors:
José Faus
Marianne Kunkel, Ph.D. M.F.A.
Glenn North
The co-editors’ primary responsibilities will be to select poems to include in the anthology as well as identify a theme from the selected submissions. Woodneath Press and the co-editors will then collaborate to select cover art from a local artist that represents the identified theme. The end product will be an anthology of Kansas City poetry with cover art created by a Kansas City artist. Just one more way Woodneath Press is embracing its tagline of local author, local content.
