Character-driven and language-driven fiction dealing with universal themes and underlying cultural and social threads that act upon the characters.
Relationship Fiction
Relationship fiction usually feature a character and the central relationships in their lives—friends, family, partners, workplaces. Many feature a character overcoming a crisis or change in circumstance in their life. May be referred to as women's fiction.
Urban Fiction
This genre features fast-paced stories that take place in a gritty, urban setting, usually featuring Black and sometimes Latine characters. Urban fiction is full of high stakes and high drama.
