An Update on the Libby App

An Update on the Libby App

July 9, 2025

A security update was made that is prompting users to verify their Library card in the Libby app. When verifying your card, you will be asked for your library card number and PIN.

  • If you do not know your Library card number, you can use the Online Library Card Lookup form to obtain your number.
  • Typically, your PIN is your eight-digit birthdate in MMDDYYYY format.

Some users might encounter an issue verifying their card number that results in repeatedly being asked to reenter your card number and PIN. If this occurs, first try to completely close the Libby app.

  • On Android devices: Open your recently used apps list, find the Libby app, and swipe to close it.
  • On iOS devices: Close the Libby app by swiping up from the app switcher on your iPhone or iPad.

Then try to verify your card number and PIN again.

If this does not work, remove the Library card from the Libby app and re-add it. Your checkouts and holds are tied to your card number, not your device. Removing your card does not return your checkouts nor cancel your holds. Your items will reappear on your Libby shelf when you re-add your card.

If removing and re-adding your card does not allow you to sign in, try completely closing the Libby app again. Reopen the Libby app and try verifying your card number and PIN another time.
