Well, you made it through the holidays! And if you’re like me, you’re looking at the upcoming year and pondering what to set as a goal for yourself. I like to set new intentions for myself and aim to achieve those during the new year. This year, I’ve decided to learn how to hand letter and to make some improvements to my home.
Hand lettering, or brush lettering, is a form of calligraphy. I’ve always been interested in calligraphy, and if you’ve been on Pinterest lately, you’ve likely seen how popular hand lettering has become. Of course, I started by looking at what guidance the Library has to offer, and here are a couple of my favorite books that I found:
- Brush Lettering by Marilyn Reaves
- The Joy of Lettering by Gabri Joy Kirkendall
- Creative Lettering and Beyond by Gabri Joy Kirkendall
The Library not only has numerous books and DVDs to help me to achieve my goals, but it also has DIY and Hobby databases to aid me during my creative journey.
Maybe your goal for 2017 is to get healthy, or maybe you’d like to start a business! Whatever it may be, the Library most likely has a resource for you. Be sure to contact your local MCPL branch to see what they have to support you with your resolutions!
