Join the Midwest Genealogy Center on Saturday, March 24, for the 2018 Spring Seminar: Mapping Your Family History, featuring speakers Ruth Ann Hager and Patti Hobbs, at the Stoney Creek Hotel Conference Center (18011 Bass Pro Drive, Independence, MO 64055). The seminar will be from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., and the registration fee includes a buffet-style lunch.
Ruth Ann Hager will present two lectures" “Finding the First Landowner Using Family Maps, Historygeo, and Texas Land Survey Maps” and “Official Records of the Union and Confederate Armies and Navies in the Civil War.”
Hager is an author, researcher, volunteer, and speaker at the local, state, and national levels. She worked for 16 years as a reference specialist in St. Louis County Library’s History and Genealogy Department and taught classes at the Institute of Genealogy and Historical Research at Samford University. She is the author of Dred & Harriet Scott: Their Family Story as well as several family histories.
Patti Hobbs will give two lectures on DNA testing: “Autosomal DNA: Testing for All Genealogical Lines” and “Autosomal DNA Data: Working the Results.”
Hobbs works as a professional genealogist and occasionally in the Local History & Genealogy department at the Springfield-Green County Library in Springfield, Missouri. She instructs on the use and analysis of DNA testing and how it complements traditional research with original records. Hobbs teaches part of the Practical Genetic Genealogy course at the Genealogical Research Institute of Pittsburgh and is the course coordinator for the Institute for Genealogy and Historical Research's Genetics for Genealogists: Beginning DNA course.

Registration must be completed by 5:00 p.m. on March 22 to be guaranteed lunch. Registrations will be accepted the day of the event, but lunch is not guaranteed. Seating and food are limited.
