Mid-Continent Public Library, the City of Independence, and the Jackson County Historical Society have officially launched a new pilot program called the MCPL Museum Pass, which provides complimentary admission to select Independence attractions and museums through the end of 2019.
MCPL cardholders who are 18 years of age and older are now able to check out a Museum Pass from select MCPL branches for up to one week. Each pass includes a voucher valid for four adult, senior, or child admissions to one of the following Independence attractions:
- Vaile Mansion
- National Frontier Trails Museum
- The Chicago & Alton Railroad Depot
- The 1859 Jail and Marshal’s Home and Museum
- The Bingham-Waggoner Estate
- Harry S. Truman Presidential Library and Museum (until it closes for renovation later this spring)
Cardholders may only check out a Museum Pass to one attraction at a time, and the passes are only available for checkout in person on a first-come, first-served basis. They cannot be renewed and must be returned to the branch where they were checked out from at the end of the seven-day checkout period.
