March 14 is National Pi Day, but it’s not the pie you’re probably thinking about! It’s the nationally designated day to celebrate the mathematical constant pi―approximately 3.14. But people also use the day to eat lots of pie.
Growing up, my favorite pie was my mom’s lemon meringue. She made it from scratch, and it’s still my favorite today. I have tried to make it myself, but it never tastes the same.
If you like baking pies and would like to try different kinds, the Library has many cookbooks that can help you get started, including:
- Southern Living: The Southern Pie Book by Jan Moon
- Cast-Iron Pies Cookbook by Dominique DeVito
- Teeny’s Tour of Pie by Teeny Lemothe
- Pie by Sara Foster
What is your favorite kind of pie?
