If you have ancestors from New England, Midwest Genealogy Center has the database for you. American Ancestors is a database collection from the New England Historical Genealogical Society and is only available at the Midwest Genealogy Center.
They have more than 470 record-based databases to search that contain collections including the Boston Catholic records, General Society of Mayflower Descendants Applications, American Ancestors magazine, Boston Lists of Alien Passengers to the Port of Boston, 1847-1851, and more. The collections include more than just New England as you can find records from Barbados, Finland, Portugal, and more.
There is an A-Z list that includes collection names, information about the records in the collection, whether there are images, as well as learning resources and some free webinars. Some of the newer additions include Massachusetts: Biographical Entries of People of African Descent in New Bedford and Coastal Towns Also Once Part of Dartmouth, Society of the Cincinnati in the State of Connecticut, Ireland: The Annals of Beara, Volume Three, and more.
Examples of other collections include Wales: Deaths and Burials, 1586-1885, which contains deaths and burials recorded in Wales, for counties of Denbigh, Flint, and Glamorgan, to name a few. This collection alone contains more than 1,200 records. Another collection covers Germany: Westfalen, Minden Citizen Lists, 1574-1902, and includes records pertaining to citizenship, naturalization, and censuses for the city of Minden, Westfalen, Germany. This collection also includes documents of citizens who moved away, making a total of more than 14,000 records.
