You'll have a chance to earn bucks to redeem for great books each time you complete a review.
Guidelines for Teens 6th through 12th grade
Write a short book review (25 words or more) online to earn Teen Bucks that can be redeemed for Library services* and books. Pay off Library fines, make copies, get a replacement card, or choose from a variety of books!
In addition, teens will be able to redeem their Teen Bucks for other prizes, while supplies last, including:
- teen coloring books
- flash drives
- bicycle lights
- selfie sticks
- mobile device power banks
- A special Summer Reading Program T-shirt courtesy of Big Frog Custom T-Shirts with locations in Kansas City and Independence, MO.
Each review will enter you into a grand prize drawing for a pair of Beats wireless earbuds!
New this year! Our 2016 Summer Reading Program Teammates The Kansas City Royals, The Kansas City Chiefs, Sporting Kansas City, Kansas Speedway, the Missouri Mavericks and other organizations are providing prizes or experiences. Winners will be notified by special messages posted to their online account. Learn what participants need to do for a chance to win these prizes!
Bucks can be redeemed for services until the end of 2016.
*Library fines for lost items, damaged items, or collection fees cannot be paid using Teen Bucks.
You can start logging on May 16th.

How many teen bucks can I earn this summer?
You may earn up to 25 teen bucks per summer.
Must I read Library books?
No. One of the goals of the program is to encourage exploration of the wide variety of books.
I just completed the 5th grade. Can I be in both the regular and teen programs?
You are welcome to choose one or the other, but not both.
Can I participate at more than one branch?
With our new registration system you can keep your reading log online and pick up your books at any branch [except Midwest Genealogy Center].
Do I need to turn in a paper list?
No. Our new registration system keeps your log online. It is paper-free which is good for the environment, and you don't have to worry about losing your list!
When can I pick up my earned book? What do I get?
You are eligible to pick up a reading incentive beginning May 16th. Teen readers receive a teen buck that they can use for books or Library services.
How many teen bucks do I have to spend to get a book?
Each prize book costs 3 teen bucks.

When does the program end?
The program ends July 31st, 2016.
