Confederate Newspapers: A Collection from Florida, Georgia, Tennessee, Virginia and Alabama

This collection is a mixture of issues and papers from Florida, Georgia, Tennessee, Virginia, and Alabama ranging from 1861-1865. These newspapers "recorded the real and true history of public opinion during the war. In their columns is to be found the only really correct and indicative map of busy life, its fluctuations and its vast concerns in the South, during her days of darkness and of trial."

Kansas City Star Electronic Image Edition

Please Note: Unfortunately, the current issues of the Kansas City Star Electronic Image Edition will be temporarily unavailable (as of 11/30/12). You can access articles from one of our other databases, Kansas City Star online from NewsBank. Once on the site, at the bottom left side of the page, you will see links to recent issues which you can use to browse through most of the published articles. It looks different than the Image Edition, but it is still the Kansas City Star.

The electronic image edition provides an exact replica of the print version of the Kansas City Star newspaper on a daily basis. Users can browse through the paper a page at a time or enter search terms to find specific articles.

Read firsthand reports of recent historical issues and events from over five hundred local and national US newspapers (1970-1991). This resource includes selected news articles of historical interest for a glimpse back into history.

Newspaper Source

Newspaper Source provides selected full text for nearly 30 US and international newspapers. The database also contains full-text television and radio news transcripts, and selected full text for more than two hundred regional US newspapers.

This collection contains full runs of newspapers specially selected by the British Library to best represent nineteenth-century Britain. It includes national and regional newspapers, as well as those from both established country or university towns and the new industrial powerhouses of the manufacturing Midlands and Scotland, Ireland, and Wales.

This historical resource includes digital facsimile images of both full pages and clipped articles for hundreds of nineteenth-century U.S. newspapers. For each issue, the newspaper is captured from cover-to-cover, providing access to every article, advertisement, and illustration.

ProQuest National Newspapers Premier

ProQuest National Newspapers Premier includes a balance of national and regional newspapers chosen for their journalistic excellence and regional representation. All titles are available in full text. Papers include national titles such as The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, and The Washington Post along with a selection of titles from across the United States such as the South Florida Sun Sentinel, Minneapolis Star Tribune, Denver Post, The Sacramento Bee, plus other important US papers.

St. Louis Post-Dispatch

The St. Louis Post-Dispatch covers local, national, and international news for the St. Louis area, with bureaus in Washington, D.C.; Jefferson City, Missouri; and Springfield, Illinois. The financial newspaper of record offering in-depth coverage of national and international finance, as well as first rate coverage of hard news (1982-current).

Washington Post

The Washington Post ranks as one of the top five newspapers in the United States. The paper covers local, national, and international news, as well as sports, financial, and entertainment news. The Washington Post is the recipient of many awards, including the Pulitzer Prize for its commentaries, editorial writing, international and national reporting, public service, and explanatory journalism (1977-current).
