Read Aloud 1-2-3

This winter, we are introducing a new reading program -- Read Aloud 1-2-3 with the Magic Tree House. This program is aimed at encouraging first through third graders to read aloud with a partner, as a group, as a classroom, or in a family setting. As a partner in the Turn the Page KC grade-level reading initiative, Read Aloud 1-2-3 is designed to help first, second, and third graders gain the vital reading skills necessary to succeed in school.
By focusing on first, second, and third-grade readers, we will help make a community that has learned to read, so they are ready to read to learn. In Missouri, 69% of Kansas City fourth-grade students scored below proficient reading level on the National Assessment of Educational Progress reading test in 2009 (U.S. Department of Education, National Center for Education Statistics, National Assessment of Educational Progress 2009).
Homeschoolers ages six through nine are encouraged to participate. Details will be available at your local branch.
