Donations
Monetary
Mid-Continent Public Library's genealogy collection has been consistently recognized by genealogists as one of the best in the nation, and you have the opportunity to help ensure the continued success of this genealogy collection. Donations mean future generations will have the same opportunity to research their ancestors as you have today.
To ensure continued good stewardship of taxpayer dollars, the library has established a genealogy Endowment Fund which will help provide for updated technology and resources. A Programming Fund was also created to assist in the continued provision of first-class programming at the Midwest Genealogy Center. When making a donation, please note which fund you prefer to support.
If you would like to contribute to the Midwest Genealogy Center’s Capital Fund, please follow the link to our partners at the Truman Heartland Community Foundation. Be sure to reference the Mid-Continent Public Library Genealogy Project when making your donation.
Donations of Books / Yearbooks
The Midwest Genealogy Center accepts donations of gently-used genealogy books and yearbooks. Donations of materials are accepted and are reviewed by the MGC Branch Manager for possible inclusion into the collection. MGC accepts donations in accordance with MCPL policy and all materials donated become the property of the library. However, certain donated materials deemed to have unique or noteworthy content are considered on a case-by-case basis for special disposition. MGC no longer accepts unpublished research materials.
There are many yearbooks in the reference collection, and we are now actively soliciting yearbooks for high schools and colleges in Missouri. Check the listing of yearbooks (PDF, 183K) currently owned by MGC; the arrangement of this list is alphabetical by state, city, and school name.
