Ancestry Day
Sponsored by the Midwest Genealogy Center and Ancestry.com, Ancestry Day will be held on March 16, 2013. Ancestry Day will feature workshops taught by Ancestry.com and MGC staff members focusing on all levels of genealogy research. The day will end with a panel discussion on using various research resources to help find your family story.
Attendees are also invited to a special reception at Midwest Genealogy Center on March 15, 2013, from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m., to network and meet the Ancestry Day speakers.

| Because of the enormity of the Ancestry.com database, some "hidden" collections don’t always surface quickly in a global search. In addition to describing dozens of examples of "lesser-known" records at Ancestry.com (such as mortality census schedules, records from U.S. Soldiers and Sailors Homes, newspaper abstracts, ethnic collections and church records), this presentation focuses on techniques for locality searching and using the catalog. You will also learn how you can keep up with news of exciting collections being added all the time. | |
