Keeping abreast of numerous and continuously-appearing characters in a book can be challenging. This task is particularly arduous when multiple storylines converge as the story advances. Some authors include a character list in the front (or back) of the book providing short, but informative, introductions to each alpha-ordered character. This can be somewhat helpful.
"So much to do, so little time" was our mantra as we stepped onto Hawaiian soil at Honolulu. Just to recap, my husband and I allotted ourselves eleven days to take in the "best" (for us) in the islands. Previous planning had paid off, as it usually does with time constraints, but we made sure to relax oceanside here and there from Waikiki Beach to a private lagoon at Kona. Listed here, without order of preference, are the activities and sights that earned our time and hearts:
This past winter, our idea to hop five Hawaiian Islands in eleven days gave new meaning to the words "Travelers' Advisory," as I performed "trip research" using travel books and websites. My husband and I decided that our objective was to experience Hawaii's premier activities and sights with the mindset that we may never return.
You’ve probably heard about the Netflix original series House of Cards by now. The series is not just unusual because of its A-list stars like Kevin Spacey as House Majority Whip Frank Underwood and Robin Wright as his wife, Claire. It’s not just unusual because it’s a Netflix exclusive. One of the most interesting things about this series was the decision to release all thirteen episodes of season one on the same date.
The sport of wrestling and I have had a unique relationship. My grandmother loved to watch "wraslin" on Channel 2, the St. Joe station, much to the amusement of her grandkids. Who knew that that type of "wraslin" would grow into the entertainment industry of the WWE? That "wraslin," however, is not my focus today.
Someone asked me recently, "how do you reward yourself?" Nearly every single "reward" I could think of included some kind of consumable good (food or drink). My brain thought of a cupcake on my way home from a rough day or a splurge at the grocery store. I thought of going out to dinner with friends. I thought of ordering delivery from the sushi place by my house. I thought of sneaking a cookie from the break room at work... *uh oh*. I may be obsessed with food...
The resolutions made on January 1st need to be resolved. What was you resolution? Perhaps you are into recycling? A recycled resolution that is -- recycle, refresh, reuse, doesn’t really matter, it is all results.
Earlier last week, I had a lovely evening, which included an evening stroll viewing the historic Plaza lights. I felt like a tourist in my own city. The evening tour awoke the travel bug within me; so, I plan to take fabulous day trips to Kansas City and the surrounding metro area. Just think—no packing, no airport security, and no deposits. Bad weather isn't even a problem, just reschedule. This vacation is all you and your personal itinerary.
Imagine flying over the Himalayan Mountains and viewing Mt. Everest. Consider the experience of riding in an ox cart and plowing the fields by hand behind oxen. Think of experiencing first-hand the thousands of Maoist protesters flooding Kathmandu (the only vehicle on the roads besides ambulances was our van!) and we were quite safe.
