I Zumba. This is a high energy, fast paced, dance inspired work out that is sweeping the nation. I started on a whim and have actually fallen in love this crazy and wiggly way to work out.
Medicare Made Easy is one of the many programs that we have had at the Red Bridge Branch. We had two representatives here to talk to us about Medicare. Medicare decisions are not always easy, and sometimes, it's nice to know you can receive free information at your local library.
Here we are, just over one month away from June, and I am willing to bet that at least a few of you have weddings on your mind. Perhaps, you've heard the song about June brides. I first heard it when I watched the movie Seven Brides for Seven Brothers.
I am a HUGE college basketball fan! Coming from the Midwest, so close to where the game was invented, and being a girl who is over 6' tall, most people would say no wonder! I look forward to the month of March every year and have my favorite teams I love to cheer on to victory. My three favorites, in order, are Duke, KU, and MU. Some of you may be taking a double-take at this moment, wondering how in the world anyone could root for MU and KU at the same time. It's simple, really. That's what I like about living near the border of states.
It is the season to start gardening, but I hate to garden. I do enjoy looking at gardens once someone has created them, but the maintaining the garden is where I run into trouble with any garden I try and start. My troubles start with remembering to water my garden, since the amount of water something depends on the Midwest weather. Last year, I checked out a book (from a MCPL branch, of course!) by Dana Stabenow. Dana has written a series of books featuring a recurring character named Kate Shugak. Kate has worked as a
I love to cook - mostly desserts. There is just something wonderful about the smell of baking pies, cakes, and all of those yummy calorie filled foods you want to eat before dinner but are not supposed to. I was walking around the cookbook section at the Red Bridge Branch and came across Jewish Food: for Festivals and Special Occasions by Marlena Spieler. What a neat book: great pictures, wonderful recipes, and a whole series of informational articles about each of the Jewish festivals and their significant food. As someone that always associates food
I checked the weather reports almost every week – waiting to see that one little four letter word that usually shows up during the months of December, January, and February: Snow. I was looking forward to winter all summer long. When summer became fall, I started waiting and getting ready for the blustery, frigid, wonderful flakes I knew just had to be around the corner. Halloween came – no snow. That was typical. Thanksgiving came and still no snow. Then came a spattering of snow in December, but it was just enough to be an annoyance and it didn’t last.
The children clapped their hands, and their smiles told us they were ready to celebrate Dr. Seuss's birthday with our first book, Green Eggs and Ham, during storytime at Red Bridge on the first day of March. It was fun watching some of the boys, girls, and parents verbally follow the story as it was being read.
