Books to Movies

Is it just me or does it seem like movie production companies are only making book adaptions (e.g. Twilight and Harry Potter), reboots, and remakes? Now don't get me wrong, I like to see books made into movies, especially with all the special effects and technology they have to play with. The Chicks Are Here!

Last week, I did my blog on my broody hens. I was expecting them to start hatching this past weekend, and they did! Right on schedule. I could see four on Saturday, and one more hatched on Sunday. Broody Hens

A broody hen has an overwhelming motherly desire to sit on and hatch her eggs. Some chicken breeds are more prone to broodiness than others. It usually takes 21 days for the eggs to hatch if they are fertile. Some hens don't seem to know this though and will sit on a nest for weeks on end. This should be discouraged because a hen will seriously neglect her own well-being while sitting on a nest of eggs. Some people discourage broodiness altogether (they may not have a rooster), so therefore the eggs won't be fertile. While a hen is broody, she will not lay anymore eggs.

The school year is over or almost over. Have you thought about what to do this summer to keep your kids occupied and stimulated? By the time mid-summer rolls around, kids are sick of playing in the yard, have been to the pool a million times, and are begging you to take them some place fun. In this economy, this can get expensive for some. Here is a list of free (or almost free) things to do this summer:
