Join us Tuesday, May 21st at 2:00 p.m. in Grain Valley for our monthly stitchers meeting. This is a great time to bring in any textile-type project that you are working on. You may be able to help someone with their project, get help with yours, or learn something new. You'll also make some great new friends.
A couple of coworkers and I have set a goal to read all the Gateway Award nominees for 2013-2014. We just finished reading Between Shades of Gray by Ruta Sepetus. It is an amazing historical fiction book. It is set in Lithuania in the early 1940s and it follows 15-year-old Lina as she and her family are taken by Soviets and forced into labor camps.

I realized a couple of weeks ago that I have been missing out on entire section of the Library: juvenile easy. My obliviousness hasn't been intentional; I just haven't had a reason to browse children's literature since, well, I was a child. And that was a while ago.
Being a first time parent can be overwhelming at times. Having a book on hand to help you understand what to expect in the first year can be very helpful. The Library has many to choose from.
Other than the shoveling and scraping, I normally enjoy a good snowstorm. It's a chance to slow down a bit, read a good book (or two), and see all of my neighbors at the grocery store at the same time. But this last blizzard made me slightly stir crazy. So, I decided to plan a road trip. Nothing battles a case of winter blahs like thinking about the freedom of a vacation.
