Have you and your kids missed coming to our storytimes during the holidays? Well, here’s some good news: They’re coming back. Storytimes will be resuming on their regular days and times next week, staring on Monday, January 7th.

The Winning Photo from our End of the Year Photo Contest Is…
What you see above is the picture that was chosen as the winner of our End of the Year photo contest. In this picture, Venice Cherrito became one of the first kids to use of our Early Literacy Station when it arrived at our branch. This computer has a wide variety of interactive programs for children that will help them develop math, language, and problem solving skills while having fun at the same time. Since this picture was taken back in July, many other children have discovered how much fun it is to use this computer.
The photo you see at the top of this blog won second place in our End of the Year photo contest. The horse in the picture was part of our Meet 4-H Horses at the Library program this summer. We would like to give a special thanks to the members of the Ray County 4-H Clever Clovers group for making this program possible.

You know, sometimes you've just had it. Maybe it was hearing White Christmas for the 10,000th time, or a particularly enthusiastic Salvation Army bell ringer. Maybe it was looking at your most recent credit card statement. Whatever the reason, about this time of year many of us are just ready for the entire holiday season to be over (No matter how much we may love Christmas and Hanukkah and New Year’s). When this happens, why not indulge in a little humor?

This year I'm trying to be thrifty, so I'm going the homemade route. I've already finished the cookies and the preserves, but I'm still struggling with my attempts at knitting projects…

We have a tie for the third place spot in our "End of the Year" photo contest. The picture you see above is from our Meet an Excelsior Springs Police Dog program. Officer Robert Warner and his dog Zarko came to our branch in March to help us learn more about police dogs and what they do. As you can see from the picture, they were both a big hit with our audience.
