I was recently thumbing through O: the Oprah Magazine which, by the way, I found at my local Mid-Continent Public Library branch, and I ran across an article Oprah wrote. In this article, she writes, "I know for sure that it brings me happiness to explore the world through books without ever having to leave my chair. There is still nothing quite like it: to be lost inside a book, savoring words as if they were spoonfuls of crème brulee, luxuriating in every perfect sentence."
In my family, we have decided that family get-togethers for the holidays are much easier and tastier if we just do a soup potluck. This way, whoever is hosting doesn’t have to spend a whole day cooking for a house full of relatives. Everybody makes and brings a different kind of soup or dessert, and then we can exchange recipes, too!
Getting to see family members is a part of the holiday season. It gives us a reason to see everyone and most especially the grandchildren. Being a grandparent is a wonderful thing. People love their children but, my oh my, there’s so much love for the grandchildren. Maybe it’s because we don’t have to discipline them or have responsibility for them. A role of a grandparent is just to lavish love onto the grandkids.
If you are raising kids today, chances are you remember the 1970s Life cereal commercial "Mickey Likes It!" I grew up eating cereal of all kinds, but about a year ago, I decided I was not going to purchase any more sugary, processed cereals for my family. I was immediately faced with a problem. What do I feed my five hungry children for breakfast?
With Thanksgiving now behind us, we are officially counting down to Christmas! The next few weeks are filled with tasty food and drink, merry music, and holiday movies. I thought I would see how my coworkers feel about Christmas movies and Christmas music. Here are the results of our poll:
This month I had the pleasure of interviewing Jordan P. for our Employee of the Month blog.

Too Busy for Storytime on Wednesday? Come See Ms. Kat in Dearborn on Tuesday!
It’s not always easy to get to storytime. Busy schedules, preschool, and other activities make going to a set storytime difficult. To make life a little easier, I am now hosting a second storytime at the Dearborn Branch on Tuesdays at 10:00 a.m.! Join us on either Tuesday in Dearborn or Wednesday in Edgerton for a fun and educational storytime for the whole family. If you love books, bubbles, music and movement, fingerplays, and of course, the PARACHUTE!!
Some people may not know about one of our most important employees here at the Edgerton Branch: our Custodian! We routinely receive compliments when people walk in the door about how clean and neat our library is and how good it smells here. We say, "It’s because Terry does such a good job of keeping our branch clean!"
I thought I would take an opportunity to ask her a few questions about her job.
Q: What is your position, here at the Edgerton Branch? A: Custodian
Q: How long have you worked here? A: Fifteen years!
