You are never too young to dig into books! Start them off early and let us help by using the Library's Summer Reading Program. Starting now thru Aug. 3rd, your kids can earn free books and prizes. All ages are welcome and encouraged to read during the summer so they don't lose the abilities they mastered during the school year.

The holiday frenzy is over, and the weather has grown snowy and cold. Now is the perfect time to curl up with a good book and sip on your favorite flavor of coffee or tea.
Who would ever have thought that the small town of Dearborn, MO would ever gain national attention? Thanks to the largest Power Ball Jackpot in Missouri history, Dearborn, (pronounced "Dearburn" by the locals) became famous nationally for selling one of the winning power ball tickets. That alone gave the town national recognition, but add the fact that the winner was a local family, and you have quite the media frenzy. Granted, we have had our share of the local news stations showing up once in a while for one story or another, but this was the big time!
Want to read a good book? I Beat the Odds, by Michael Oher, is one of the best books I have ever read! Michael's story was first depicted in the book and movie, The Blind Side. He went from being homeless to graduating from college, and on to playing professional football with the Baltimore Ravens. The Blind Side depicts Michael's life, from mid high school through being selected by the Ravens.
Have you ever wondered what the 4-H's stand for? Head, Heart, Hands, and Health.
Do you know what the 4-H Emblem is? A green 4-leaf clover with a white "H" on each cloverleaf.
4-H is for boys and girls who are between the ages of 8 and 18 by January 1st of the program year. Clover Kids is for youth 5-7 years and is designed to introduce the 4-H program. It is open to everyone and is a non-competitive way for members to get involved.

Scrapbooking time joins Book Club and Yarn Bee at the Dearborn Branch in October. Beginning at 1:30 p.m. on October 18th, anyone with a scrapbooking project can join us for exclusive time to work on albums. Your albums are digital now? No problem, plan it all out on paper first or bring your laptop along.
We'll meet for an hour, so bring photos and supplies to work that long. Or, use the time to gather ideas for your pages from others. No matter what your plan, setting aside an hour a month to scrapbook will get those memories saved and albums finished.
Would you like to know how the pioneer lived in NW Missouri? Take a trip back in time to the period from 1840 to about 1870. Life in the hills and prairies was harsh, but had its good time.
Learn more about these hearty pioneers and how they worked and played. A period dressed presenter will bring along a wonderful display of household items, clothing, toys, and more.
